Even though you’re never supposed to pick your favorite story, this is my favorite story (sorry to all the other stories, I love you too.) This came to the Planet Money inbox (which is one of my favorite places to hang out) and we actually got a few emails about a strange international battle taking place inside a video game. As I looked into it more deeply, it became not just a story about video games, but also about labor and money and arbitrage and power and of course, dragons.
